Extending centralized isolation period from 14 days to 21 days.

On May 5th, 2021, the Ministry of Health issued Official Telegram No. 597/CD-BCD for strictly compliance with the regulations on centralized isolation and supervision after completing centralized isolation for Covid-19 prevention and Official Telegram No. 600/CD-BCD on adjusting centralized isolation, supervision after completing centralized isolation period and Covid-19 testing. Whereby, The National steering committee for Covid-19 prevention request to strictly comply with the following contents:

  • Adjusting the centralized isolation period for its subjects as regulated by the law from at least 14 days to 21 days at centralized isolation facilities from the entering day or last contact with Covid-19 infected individuals and carry out taking samples for SARS-CoV-2 testing at least 3 times on the first, 14th and 20th day during the centralized isolation period;
  • Adjusting the self-isolation at home, residence from 14 days to 7 days after completing centralized isolation and carry out taking samples for SARS-CoV-2 testing on the 7th day (start from the completion of centralized isolation)
  • Individuals who completed centralized isolation must commit to implementing the following content:
  • Applying epidemic prevention and self-monitoring health condition at home/accommodation; at the same time, must notify the local health agency immediately upon their return from the centralized isolation.
  • Must use epidemic prevention application to monitor epidemic control implementation during the period of self-monitoring health condition at home/accommodation.
  • Daily health reports must be made to local health staff. If there is any sign of fever, cough, sore throat, difficulty breathing, fatigue, chills, loss of taste, immediately contact the medical facility for timely instructions and management as prescribed;
  • Not allowed to leave the house or accommodation; if have to leave the house or residence for work or other essential activities, it must be reported to the local police or health agency and strictly follow the 5K recommendation (mask – distance – not getting crowed – disinfection – medical declaration) of the Ministry of Health; not gathering in group, avoid going to crowded places;
  • If it is required to travel to another locality, the experts’ sponsor units, organizations (for expert), or Vietnamese citizens must notify the Provincial, City’s Centers for Disease Control to continue managing and monitoring their health condition as regulated.

Therefore, immigrants will be requested to comply with 21 days of centralized isolation instead of 14 days as at the time being and still have to continue to self-isolation at their residence for 07 more days under the supervision and management of the local reception. Also, one more test for SARS-CoV-2 must be carried out on the 7th day from the end of centralized isolation.

Enterprises/organizations will need to instruct their sponsored foreigners to strictly comply with the compulsory regulations when entering Vietnam.
