According to the Vietnamese government portal site, a notice of the Prime Minister’s Office (No. 102) was issued on 17 Mar 2020, and the following measures will be taken in Vietnam.
Visa issuance will be suspended for 30 days from 12:00AM March 18th for those who enter Vietnam.
From 12:00 AM March 18th, visa waivers, holders of visa exemptions for Vietnamese and relative visitors, and other special cases (e.g., experts, business managers, and highly skilled workers) shall only be allowed to enter Vietnam if they can submit papers issued by competent authorities from the country of residence certifying that they are not positive for the virus and receive approval from Vietnam. The above measures shall not apply to entrants for diplomatic or official purposes. All entrants shall be medically checked and have to comply with the nation’s COVID-19 prevention and control measures. In addition to the current quarantine measures, all incoming travelers from the US, Europe and ASEAN countries shall be subject to centralized quarantine.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, visas that have already been issued (whether single or multiple) are still valid. However, those who entering Vietnam using such visas shall only be allowed to enter the country if they can submit papers issued by competent authorities from the country of residence certifying that they are not positive for the virus and receive approval from Vietnam.
In fact, since it is extremely difficult to enter Vietnam for the time being, those who are planning to travel to Vietnam shall kindly consider canceling the trip.
