In the Draft of amending Law on Health Insurance, there are some proposals on the amending and supplementing the HI contribution, details are as follows:
Option No. 1: Maintain the regulations on the maximum contribution level as prescribed by the current Law on Health Insurance, and include the schedule for increasing the contribution level in the amended Law as follows:
- From January 1, 2025, the HI contribution will be increased to 5.1% of the employee’s monthly salary or unemployment benefit or base salary (depending on each type of insured).
- From January 1, 2035, the HI contribution will be increased to 6% of the employee’s monthly salary or unemployment benefit or base salary (depending on each type of insured).
Option No. 2: Maintain the regulations on the maximum contribution level as prescribed by the current Law on Health Insurance, and include the schedule for increasing the contribution level in the amended Law as follows:
- From January 1, 2025, the HI contribution will be increased to 5.4% of the employee’s monthly salary or unemployment benefit or base salary (depending on each type of insured).
- From January 1, 2035, the HI contribution will be increased to 6% of the employee’s monthly salary or unemployment benefit or base salary (depending on each type of insured).
Option No. 3: Maintain the regulations in the current Law on Health Insurance which will remain the regulations on the maximum contribution levels and also not supplement any schedule to increase the contribution in the Draft of amending Law on Health Insurance.
At the time being, the maximum HI contribution is still 6% by the Law on Health Insurance 2008, however, the contribution level in practice is 4.5% of the monthly salary.
