Visa exemption for citizens of 13 countries to enter Vietnam and remove restrictions, reinstate entry and exit procedures from March 15, 2022

On March 15, 2022, the Government of Vietnam issued Resolution No. 32/NQ-CP, according to which:

Restore visa exemption for citizens of the following countries: Federal Republic of Germany, Republic of France, Republic of Italy, Kingdom of Spain, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Russian Federation, Japan, Republic of Korea Kingdom, Kingdom of Denmark, Kingdom of Sweden, Kingdom of Norway, Republic of Finland and Republic of Belarus when entering Vietnam with a temporary stay period of 15 days from the date of entry, regardless of passport-type, entry purposes, on the basis of satisfying all conditions as prescribed by Vietnamese law.

The above visa exemption policy is implemented for a period of 3 years, from March 15, 2022, to the end of March 14, 2025, and will be considered for extension in accordance with Vietnamese law.

This Resolution takes effect from March 15, 2022, and replaces Resolutions No. 21/NQ-CP dated February 28, 2020, No. 23/NQ-CP dated March 2, 2020, No. 29/NQ- CP dated March 11, 2020, and No. 33/NQ-CP dated March 19, 2020, of the Government on temporary suspension of unilateral visa exemption policy with other countries.

 

On the same day, the Government Office issued Official Letter No. 1606/VPCP-QHQT on the entry and exit policy of Vietnam for foreigners, according to which:

The Government agrees to reinstate from March 15, 2022, the measures and procedures on entry and exit for foreigners and Vietnamese residing abroad as before the application of entry restrictions to Covid-19 prevention and control based on compliance with the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam and guiding documents.
