On November 30th, 2021, Vietnam Immigration Department – Ministry of Public Security has announced about the automatic extension for the temporary residence of the foreigners who were affected by the Covid-19 epidemic:
- Foreigners who entered Vietnam under the form of visa-free entry; e-visa or tourist visa from March 1st, 2020, to now shall get “automatic visa extension” to the end of December 31st, 2021 or may exit Vietnam during the above period without getting an extension of temporary residence. For foreigners who entered Vietnam before March 1st, 2020, if the foreigner can prove to be stuck in Vietnam due to the impact of Covid-19 epidemic and have been certificated on Official Note by the Diplomatic Mission (with a Vietnamese translation) or have written confirmation from Vietnamese competent authority on quarantine, treatment status of Covid-19 or other force majeure reason…., will also be considered to apply for“automatic visa extension” to the end of December 31st, 2021, and foreigners must present the aforementioned Official Note or confirmation documents when exiting.
- Foreigners undergoing the “automatic temporary residence extension” must declare temporary residence and medical declarations according to the regulations.
- Foreigners who are not entitled to the cases in section 1 of this notification or have violated other legal regulations shall comply with the current provisions of Vietnamese law.
